It’s been a little while since I’ve done a product review! Life has been chaotic at best around here, but I recently found a new HOLY GRAIL product and I had to tell y’all about it! Read on if you want to find out why I love Ulta’s Full Coverage Liquid Concealer!

I have had “bad” skin since hitting pubery at the age of 11. I started out with good ol’ teenage acne, and graduated to cystic acne after having kids. And, even though I know I shouldn’t, I can’t help myself from picking and popping… If I see a head, I HAVE to get rid of it! As a result, my skin is covered in acne scars from all these years of horrible skin.

I’ve tried so many foundations and concealers over the years to try to hide my skin, I’ve lost count. I finally found a couple of foundations I love that don’t seem to make my breakouts any worse, but even though I’ve got some great full coverage foundation, sometimes I still need help with concealing extra ugly breakouts. You know the ones I mean… Huge red bumps that seem almost angry when you look at them. The ones people can spot from a mile away and go “Damn, girl…That’s nasty!”

For a while now, I’ve been using NYX’s HD Photo Concealer Wand. While I liked it, I was getting frustrated with how quickly the product seemed to run out. After a few hours, the product would “fade” or rub off and I was having to do touchups a lot to keep my skin looking fresh through the day. I started looking for something thicker, but still creamy and blendable.

Let me start off by saying I have never had much luck with Ulta’s store brand cosmetics before. I’ve tried their blushes and eyeshadows and wasn’t impressed with either. However, I used to use their makeup wipes religiously and loved them, so when I saw the reviews (4.5 stars with 1,118 reviews!!) on this concealer, I decided to give it a chance, and I’m SO glad I did!! Here are the claims from the Ulta website:

Ulta’s Full Coverage Liquid Concealer is a re-formulated concealer for a natural finish – perfect for dark eye circles or any imperfections. This light and creamy, full coverage liquid concealer contains special ingredients known to promote healing, concealing imperfections, and evening skin tone. Built with a waterproof formula and matte finish, this long lasting concealer is also excellent for concealing redness, scars and minor, non-puncture wounds on the face and body.

Benefits:

  • Aloe vera, chamomile green tea, and tea tree oil are natural ingredients that help heal and reduce redness and inflammation all while preventing infection when concealing
  • Formulated as gluten free, paraben free, sulfate free, and fragrance free
  • Suitable for all skin types
  • Full coverage, matte finish
  • Vegan-friendly

This concealer comes in 8 shades, and I purchased the Light Warm shade since I have yellow undertones in my pale skin. When it came in, it looked really yellow in the container, so I was nervous to put it on my skin but OMG…. The concealer is creamy and thick, but still blends out like a dream. A little goes a long way, and it truly is full coverage. I tried it on top of a particularly nasty breakout I had along my jawline as well as some bad acne scarring on my cheek, and both were covered completely; I didn’t need color correctors or anything other than the concealer, which saves me time in my makeup routine and product. The best part for me is that it didn’t lift the foundation underneath, which is a problem I’ve had with other concealers in the past. I was able to blend it with both my sponge and my fingers and get great results. Not only that, but it lasts all day! I put it on in the morning when I’m getting ready for work, and when I get home, my makeup still looks good. I don’t need to come home at lunch or carry a tube in my purse for touchups because it’s that amazing!

My only gripe is that the shade range for this product isn’t great. Ulta needs to bring a couple more shades out, both for the lighter girls and the darker girls. A girl with deep chocolate colored skin is not going to be able to find a shade for the, because the darkest shade in the line is still very light. As for me, with my pale skin, I would LOVE to use this as undereye brightener, but none of the shades are light enough for that. The one I purchased is too yellow for under my eyes- believe me, I tried it already! LOL

This is my new holy grail concealer, y’all. I’ve tried so many concealers over the years, both drugstore and high-end, and none have performed like this one. If you’re looking for a new concealer, you should definitely try this one! I highly doubt you’ll be disappointed!
