The new school year is approaching fast (can you believe we’re almost in August?! WTF?!), and I know if y’all are like me, you are always looking for ways to make life a little easier and make school mornings a little less hectic. Well I’m here to help, with 5 of my most “must-have” things that help keep me sane during the school year.
- A Keurig machine
Since I got my Keurig K-Compact single serve coffee maker, I am in LOVE with how fast I can get my coffee in the mornings! Brewing in less than a minute, I can easily set the machine to brew and go finish my hair or help the kids pick out their clothes. I have no more excuses not to brew my own coffee at home anymore; it’s way faster and more affordable than stopping by the drive through or gas station. If you are a coffee drinker like me, and don’t have a Keurig yet, get one!! You’ll thank me later!
- A good CC cream
If you don’t want to spend 20 minutes on a full face of makeup, but still want to look fresh-faced with minimal effort, I highly recommend a good CC cream. My favorite is IT Cosmetics’ Your Skin But Better CC cream, which not only color corrects, but includes SPF to protect your skin, not to mention ingredients to promote anti-aging benefits and that diffuse the look of wrinkles and lines. I won’t lie- it’s a little pricey- but a little bit goes a long way and your skin will look absolutely incredible. It’s worth the splurge!
- A good travel mug
I NEED my coffee in the morning, y’all (hence why the Keurig was #1 on my list!!), and I hardly ever have time to sit and drink it at home, so I like to be able to brew mine and take it on the go. If you’ve got the same problem, you need to invest in a good travel mug if you don’t already have one! Not only do you help the environment by using a reusable mug, but a stainless steel mug will keep your drink insulated and either hot or cold for hours. This awesome one from ATLIN is budget-friendly, cup-holder friendly, and can either be used with a straw (it comes with one!) or you can sip right from the lid.
A family of four and kids ages 14, 9, and 4 mean a wide range of musical tastes, and I get tired of listening to the same playlist over and over, so I don’t always want to use iTunes. And as far as the songs on the radio, well… I’d rather my 9 and 4 year old not hear some of the lyrics out there today. Enter Spotify, which is absolutely amazing and fabulous for creating playlists or radio stations based off favorite artists and songs. I subscribe to the premium service, so we can make unlimited playlists and listen commercial free, which has been a lifesaver more times than not on road trips and even out running errands. You can pay a monthly fee or get 3 months for $30 here.
- A Bluetooth adapter
Those of us who are still driving dinosaurs without Bluetooth built in aren’t lucky enough to be able to pair our phones with our vehicle, so we need a little help to be able to keep both hands on the wheel and still be able to use our phone wirelessly. Enter the VicTsing Bluetooth FM Transmitter, which not only lets you talk on the phone wirelessly, but also lets you listen to music as well. It plugs in via your car’s 5V-2.1A charging port and has a USB slot to allow you to charge your phone faster and keep it from dying on you while you’re using that Bluetooth feature to connect.
So there you have it! These are 5 of my favorite things to help make life a little less hectic during the school year (and all year!). If you decide to try one of these, please leave a note in the comments to let me know how it works out for you! If I can help make just one person’s life a little easier, I’ve done what I set out to do. 🙂
