At the beginning of 2016, I had long, beautiful hair.
When it was curled or flat-ironed, I absolutely loved my hair. However, because I’m a busy mom of 3, I don’t always have a lot of time to style my hair. Most of the time it ended up in a bun to keep it out of my face, and people started commenting that I never did anything with my hair anymore. So a few months into the year, I got the great idea to chop my hair into a short bob.
I thought “I’ll cut my hair and then it will force me to do something with it!” Yeeeeeah… The problem with that is that my hair is fine and thin, and with a cut this short, there’s pretty much only a couple of “styles” I can do, so I didn’t really think it through. And then there’s the issue of waking up to a head of hair that looks like a hot mess thanks to your hair’s natural waviness, so you end up with hair that is sticking up or straight out in certain places. I felt like I needed to be able to shower anytime I wanted to do my hair, which resulted in stripping the natural oils from my hair, leaving it limp and brittle. And of course, as I mentioned, I have three kids so there’s not always time to shower so I can style it fresh every single morning.
Mornings like that, I thank God for my InStyler.
I’ve had my Instyler for probably 9 or 10 years now. My sister and I got them from an infomercial on TV back in the day when they had a buy one, get one free promo. I admit, I mostly used it when I traveled to take up less room in my suitcase or travel bag, but since I cut my hair off, it has become my saving grace. I can use this little baby to style my hair on days I don’t have a lot of time, and because it smooths and styles at the same time, I don’t spend more time going over each strand with a flat iron 7 or 8 times. I have a great flat iron, but when my hair is sticking up all over, it’s much faster to use the InStyler, and I appreciate that I can do my hair in 5 minutes instead of 10 or 15. And if you’re a mom, you know what I mean when I say that 5 or 10 minutes can make a big difference when you’re trying to hustle your kids out the door for school or some other event. It has been a lifesaver for me, since I’m pretty picky about making sure I’m presentable when I leave my house, so I have kinda fallen in love with it all over again. I also love that the same tool works as well for my fine, thin hair as it does for my oldest daughter’s super thick, wavy hair. Both of us get the same frizz-free, smooth result when we use the InStyler so it has become one of my must-have beauty tools in my house.
If you’re like me and you need to cut down on the time you spend getting ready, or if you want to save space in your bathroom or when traveling, I would definitely suggest the InStyler. It can straighten, curl, and wave your hair fast, and eliminate the need to have so many tools in your arsenal.
