Hey everybody! In the past, I have done more than one product review per week. From now on, I am going to do one new product review per week. While the blog is still new, I could probably keep going at the rate I have been, but I am trying to set a schedule for blogging, so from now on, there will be one a week. 🙂
This week’s product review is on e.l.f.’s new Mint Maniac lip exfoliator!
I am not a big lip care person. I have a lot of friends who always carry a lip balm in their pocket, and I know a few people who exfoliate regularly, whether they do it with a beauty product like this one, or with a DIY lip scrub they made from some pin on Pinterest. I don’t normally have a problem with dry skin on my lips, though, so I have never really thought about it.
However, during my recent Ulta haul, I was excited to see that Ulta is now carrying e.l.f. cosmetics! So awesome, right? I have been a fan of this super-affordable brand for a long time now, and since I get points for shopping at Ulta, I decided to get a few things to try out. e.l.f. has a couple of different lip exfoliation products, but I am a sucker for all things mint-scented and mint-flavored, so I had to get this one. I tried it for the first time this week and let me just say I now understand why my friends swear by exfoliating your lips!
This product applies like a regular lipstick. You apply it to your lips in a back and forth motion just like you would any regular lipstick, and you can feel the benefits almost immediately. As soon as I started applying this to my lips, I felt the creamy formula gliding over my lips softly. At first it felt just like any other good lip balm, but then I started feeling the gentle exfoliation from the beads inside the lipstick, and the slight tingling sensation you get when using mint-infused products. I went back and forth on my lips for about a full minute, then gently wiped my lips clean with a cool washcloth. After the application, I could see and feel a difference in my lips. They were a little rosier than usual from the exfoliation, but I could definitely feel the softness of the skin. I applied my Burt’s Bee’s lipbalm and went to sleep, but when I woke up the next morning, my lips still felt soft and smooth, and my lipstick went on much easier when I applied that day’s makeup.
This product is cruelty-free and vegan, and even though you probably shouldn’t use it every day, it’s gentle enough that it won’t irritate your lips. The smell is minty without being overwhelming, and the formula glides on like a dream. Overall, I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who likes to pamper themselves and take care of their lips.
